Why People Got Disease

Image
Why People Got Disease by Jules F. Delorme This is not a Mohawk story. This is a Cherokee story. It’s a good story though. An important story. It’s about when the first People showed up on Turtle Island. It’s about why we have disease and sickness. How when those first People showed up they got on the other animals’ nerves. How they didn’t respect the other animals and didn’t respect the earth, so the other animals got together around the sacred fire and decided to do something about it. We like to think that some People are better than other People but as far as animals are concerned People all have to be taught respect. People have to be taught how to behave. People need something to keep them from crowding the planet and doing nothing but harm. Back near the beginning of People they hadn’t learn to respect the earth or respect their animal cousins so all the other animals got together and decided to do something about it. They gathered in a circle around a sacred fire and pas...
SPIRIT OF WISDOM “He who binds to himself a joy Does the winged life destroy But he who kisses that joy as it flies Lives in eternity’s sunrise.” William Blake Appearing to me today along with the Hawthorne Tree, Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta , Spirit of Wisdom speaks to me so clearly that the most beautiful things, the deepest knowledge often lies protected by thorns and tangles. Part of Wisdom, for me, is knowing that the things that I cannot grasp have value and power and, once we grasp this knowledge, we place it in amber, we make it a dead thing. Wisdom lives beyond mere knowledge. Wisdom, like Magic, as a form of Magic, for the Magi were also known as Wise Men, seeks refuge, as the tender things do in Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta , in the Hawthorn Tree, behind the tangles and thorns that keep grasping hands away. True Wisdom, the Spirit of Wisdom is a tender winged thing that we would hold on to with all our might and choke the life, the light, out of. It must be protected from our brutish grasp,...

HAWTHORN - OSHAHÈ:TA OHÌ:KTA

Image
HAWTHORN - OSHAHÈ:TA OHÌ:KTA “I had a dove and the sweet dove died And I had thought it died of grieving; O what could it grieve for? Its feet were tied By a silken thread of mine own hand’s weaving...” John Keats The Hawthorn Tree, Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta , is not a much beloved tree. In fact it is despised by those of us who have spent any time in the bush. But the Hawthorn, and its many tangled branches of thorns, is a safe place for vulnerable wildlife. It is a place where more tender creatures, more tender things, can take refuge. Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta is also among the first trees to bloom, in early spring, with delicate and exquisite white flowers. They too are protected by the Hawthorn’s tangles and thorns. Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta is seen as the tree, the ó:kwire, of magic, because it can protect so many secrets. Even in Europe the Hawthorne is the tree of the Faeries, or the tree of the White Goddess. Magic is nothing more or less than those parts of the world and those things that we...

This Mighty Ancient Oak

Image
This Mighty Ancient Oak by Jules F. Delorme This Mighty Ancient Oak Bears in her knots and twists the forgotten remnants of many civilizations. Neath the concrete Neath the brick Lay Roots Thick and Cracking. This Grandmother Oak, This Akshótha, This Kanawakón:ha, In her Knots and Twists She remembers. This Oak is Wise. This Kanawakón:ha Carries Wisdom in Her Knots. In her Scars. We all carry Wisdom in our knots and scars. This Akshótha, This Grandmother, Speaks her Wisdom To the sky. To all who will listen, To all who will learn, Her Roots run Deep and Strong. Feel her massive Strength. Her warm Akshótha Strength. This Oak. This Mighty Ancient Oak. This Kanawakón:ha She has stood She has grown She has Generated For longer than any woman or man. Than any of our meagre generations. She has Generated. She has Stood. This Oak. This Kanawakón:ha This Mighty Ancient Oak. https://www.facebook.com/delormewriting #writing #writer #writers #poetry #poem #poems #poet #JulesDelorme...
