 HAWTHORN - OSHAHÈ:TA OHÌ:KTA

The Hawthorn Tree, Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta, is not a much beloved tree. In fact it is despised by those of us who have spent any time in the bush. But the Hawthorn, and its many tangled branches of thorns, is a safe place for vulnerable wildlife. It is a place where more tender creatures, more tender things, can take refuge. Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta is also among the first trees to bloom, in early spring, with delicate and exquisite white flowers. They too are protected by the Hawthorn’s tangles and thorns. Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta is seen as the tree, the ó:kwire, of magic, because it can protect so many secrets. Even in Europe the Hawthorne is the tree of the Faeries, or the tree of the White Goddess. Magic is nothing more or less than those parts of the world and those things that we cannot put our hands on and cannot understand. And we humans understand by deconstruction, we take apart, whether it be with our thoughts or our experiments, we reduce or try to reduce to one simple truth or graspable piece of knowledge. But some of the most profound things lie just out of reach, hidden behind tangles and thorns. And we often call those things that are protected from our grasping, magic. This is what the Ancestors meant when they spoke of the Hawthorn, Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta, as being the tree, the ó:kwire, of magic. And today the Hawthorn, Oshahè:ta Ohì:kta, speaks to me, speaks to those of you who would listen, of Magic, of those precious things which we cannot grasp.

Pandemic Training Diary Week 1 Days 5, 6 & 7 I started out Day 5 in less pain than in the previous days, but my energy level was very low. Still not sleeping much. Rather than taking days like this off I negotiate with myself on low energy days that the workout can be low intensity, that it doesn’t have to be perfect. Better less intensity than no workout at all. Today was scheduled to be a Plyometric based workout. Plyometric is just a fancy way of saying bounce. I have one of those Rebounders that sit around in most yards, but you can do all of these exercises on the ground or on the floor. Just be careful to stay on your toes during the standing exercises. When you rest on your heels the impact is absorbed through your bones and joints. When you’re on your toes the muscles carry most of the impact.   So, for some reason, I ended up writing two New Year poems this year. One while I was smudging and praying, which I've already posted. JULES’ TRAINING & DIET DIARY PLYOMETRIC POWER AND EXPLOSION PHASE WEEK 3 JULY 25 - 28

Always so exhausted after seizures or near seizures. Tough to get myself moving. But I did it. I keep doing it. Smudge to start the day. True day of rest. Did some writing. Really didn’t do much of anything else.   Stuck to the Carnivore Diet. Feel full all the time, and a little bloated, but noticing less carb cravings than last week. Stopped eating by 9 pm, & began Partial Fast . Did some reading and writing. Walked Momo, with Cutting Practice . Read to wind the night down. THURSDAY JULY 26 : Felt like a good night of deep sleep. Started day with Smudge. Partial Fast. Felt better than I did yesterday.
