the path (ohserá:se' {new year} tekeni poem 2021)
So, for some reason, I ended up writing two New Year poems this year. One while I was smudging and praying, which I've already posted. And this one, which I wrote during my walk....
the path
(ohserá:se' {new year} tekeni poem 2021)

we have stumbled often
i have stumbled often
as we walked along the path
we were not altogether
i was not altogether
and we have fallen down often
we have been separated
i have been separated
and we have separated ourselves from each other
it has been a hard year
it has been such a hard year
and we cannot come together to heal
we have lost our way
i have lost my way
and there seems no solid ground to hold us
but the path is there
the path is always there
even when we when i lose sight of it
and so we walk on
so i walk on
we do not stop we will not stop
we shall surely fall again
i shall surely fall again
and we shall surely lose our way
perhaps we shall lose our way together
and perhaps we shall find it together
if we but walk on a little further
for the path is always there
the path is always there
it is but a matter of going on
and if we stumble
if we fall
then we will get back up
i will get back up
and i will walk on
we will walk on
one step
one step
and then the other
it is all a matter of going on
