Pandemic Training Diary Week 1 Days 5, 6 & 7 I started out Day 5 in less pain than in the previous days, but my energy level was very low. Still not sleeping much. Rather than taking days like this off I negotiate with myself on low energy days that the workout can be low intensity, that it doesn’t have to be perfect. Better less intensity than no workout at all. Today was scheduled to be a Plyometric based workout. Plyometric is just a fancy way of saying bounce. I have one of those Rebounders that sit around in most yards, but you can do all of these exercises on the ground or on the floor. Just be careful to stay on your toes during the standing exercises. When you rest on your heels the impact is absorbed through your bones and joints. When you’re on your toes the muscles carry most of the impact. I’m still using the Tabata based Circuits because they seem to be optimum for keeping your metabolism up. (See my previous post at: https://www.facebook.com/HITTScarborough for ...
So, for some reason, I ended up writing two New Year poems this year. One while I was smudging and praying, which I've already posted. And this one, which I wrote during my walk.... the path (ohserá:se' {new year} tekeni poem 2021) by jules f. delorme we have stumbled often i have stumbled often as we walked along the path we were not altogether i was not altogether and we have fallen down often we have been separated i have been separated and we have separated ourselves from each other it has been a hard year it has been such a hard year and we cannot come together to heal we have lost our way i have lost my way and there seems no solid ground to hold us but the path is there the path is always there even when we when i lose sight of it and so we walk on so i walk on we do not stop we will not stop we shall surely fall again i shall surely fall again and we shall surely lose our way perhaps we shall lose our way together and perhaps we shall find it together if we but walk o...
Pandemic Training Diary Week 3 Day 1 Day 1 of Week 3 started out badly. I did finally get some sleep but woke up in more pain and more exhausted. Sleep hangover. When you go a long time without decent sleep a night of sleep actually makes you feel worse because your body has just started healing. Still, I’m determined not to fall off of my training schedule, no matter how hard it gets. Sometimes that’s all you have. As a fighter we referred to this as biting down on your mouthpiece. You might not win the fight and your only victory may be in not giving up, and that has to be enough. So I started out with the beginning of a full 36 Hour Fast. Followed that with Shadowboxing. (See my past post at: https://www.facebook.com/HITTScarborough for a description of this exercise). I started out each technique, movement and combination in super slow motion so that my body, especially my lower back could get properly warmed up before accelerating the movement. The pain and exhaustion d...
