DANCER OF LIES

Coming today hand in hand with Tsitsho, Fox, Dancer of Lies, seems to speak to me of both the Trickster lies associated with Tsitsho and of the Lies that we tell ourselves, the Lies that I tell myself. Trickster lies can cause trouble but they can also lead to creativity and wisdom. Wise Trickster Fox is always looking to take advantage and adapts to change better than even the other Tricksters. We can all afford to learn from that. I definitely can afford to learn from that. The second part that speaks to me is the way that we Dance with Lies even with ourselves, and always about ourselves. Tsitsho is a Wise Listener. She hears what is and what isn’t true, what is real and she seizes the advantage. The Japanese say that a person has Seven Hearts and Seven Faces. The First is our most public face. Each subsequent Face is more intimate than the one before it. But the Final Face is unknown even to ourselves. We Dance with these Lies always and even with ourselves. Fox tells us to stop and Listen. To hear the Lies we tell ourselves and know them for Lies. In these times of isolation many of us are trapped with these Lies about ourselves and, particularly if we are trapped inside with others, like Tsitsho in her den, we are also trapped with our Lies. The facade of these Lies can begin to crumble. That can be a painful thing. It has been painful to me, and the source of much of my Depression of late. But Tsitsho tells us that we can Dance with these lies and grow stronger when we hear them and see them. The facade crumbles to show us something new. This is the source of true Wisdom. That is what Tsitsho Dancing with the Dancer of Lies speaks to me. Fox has almost certainly been there in the woods, but tonight, as I walked with my friend Benji, I saw Fox, and Benji saw Fox. Benji wanted to dance with Fox, just as he always wants to dance with Coyote. His wagging tail tells me this. So, like my wise and crazy friend Benji, I will Dance with Tsitsho, the Dancer of Lies, in my heart and in my spirit, today and in the days to come.

GOAT, KAIA'TÁKERAHS – SPIRIT ANIMAL I am alwaya pleased to be visited by Goat, Kaia'tákerahs . This is from the new deck given to me by my friend Erin. When I was young, my Grandmother, my Tóta’s Goat, whose name was William, (despite the fact that she was a nanny Goat), but was known by everybody as just Goat, followed me everywhere on the Reserve. So people would call me Goat. I have always had a special place in my heart for Kaia'tákerahs , for Goat. Kaia'tákerahs is an animal of the Earth, of Katsi’tsáhere . She is the most grounded of animals and speaks to us of our own need to be grounded to be connected to Katsi’tsáhere , to the planet, to Onhwéntsia. All true medicine is connected to Katsi’tsáhere , and to Onhwéntsia. Goat, Kaia'tákerahs , is almost impossible to restrain.
